THE POSITION

The Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) is looking for Retirement Representatives to help members understand their retirement benefits.

We are a team of dedicated, customer‑focused individuals who work hard to give members the information they need to plan for their future. Description of Work

As a PSERS Retirement Representative, you will support members by explaining retirement benefits, assisting with applications, and answering questions. You will receive formal training regarding relevant policies, procedures, and laws that govern the administration of the PSERS benefit program. You will also learn how to lead informational seminars in person and online for PSERS members, as well as work in the call center, handling member phone calls and electronic questions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to calls and electronic inquiries to explain retirement information and answer questions.
  • Prepare materials and present retirement seminars both in person and virtually.
  • Meet with members to guide retirement decisions and help with forms and applications.
  • Calculate different retirement benefit estimates based on member information.
  • Check account information for accuracy and research issues to prevent or correct errors.
  • Help test system updates, identify issues, and document required details.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full‑time employment (37.5 hours per week).
  • Work hours:

    either 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch.
  • Travel within assigned areas of Pennsylvania is required.
  • Telework: after initial in‑office training, eligible to telework up to 4 days per week according to operational needs.
  • Possibility of overtime as necessary.
  • Salary: may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the twelve‑month training program as a PSERS Retirement Representative Trainee; or
  • Five years of experience in human resources administration, financial management, or public relations work in a pension or retirement system or a related occupational area; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions as presented in the linked Position Description.
