Temple University's Kornberg School of Dentistry is searching for a Senior/Lead Dental Assistant:
Tamaqua, PA.

Position Summary

The Senior/Lead Dental Assistant will oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring smooth clinical and administrative function. Primary responsibilities include working closely with the Clinic Director to manage staff scheduling, training, and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols. The role also involves assisting with routine and complex surgical procedures, taking digital x‑rays, maintaining equipment, and supporting front‑desk operations as needed.

Required

Education and Experience
  • At least 3 years experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Dental Assisting training and certificate from an accredited school
  • Pennsylvania Dental Radiology Certification
  • CPR certification
  • Child abuse clearance (ability to obtain PA Child Abuse Clearance)

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to travel between clinical locations in Philadelphia and Tamaqua
  • Knowledge of standard and complex dental procedures
  • Proficiency with dental instruments, sterilizer, operatory equipment, x‑ray equipment, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to multiple requests
  • Understanding of infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and emergency preparedness
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and accuracy, attention to detail
  • Adaptability to change and strong customer‑service focus
  • Capability to work with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, and patients
Essential Duties
  • Assist in training new and current staff on clinical equipment, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare reports for the department and review clinical revenue
  • Manage the clinic recall list
  • Chairside assist faculty and residents during routine and complex procedures
  • Ensure patient care is appropriate and efficient
  • Assist with regulatory compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control)
  • Sterilize and maintain dental equipment and instruments; run spores tests
  • Maintain logs for equipment maintenance and safety requirements
  • Coordinate purchases of inventory and dental materials; maintain related records
  • Taking and processing digital x‑rays; uploading images to the system
  • Serve as information resource and resolve problems for residents, students, faculty, and staff
  • Update clinic forms, handouts, and patient education materials
  • Support front‑desk operations: check patients in/out, schedule appointments, process payments, answer calls
  • Perform other duties as assigned
