About the Role

Are you a passionate and talented dentist who delivers top‑notch dental care? If so, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) is looking for you! As a dentist with DOC, you will provide basic dental care at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) s role offers clinical autonomy, work‑life balance, and excellent support from staff and management.

• Dental Treatment: Provide routine examinations, identify oral health conditions, and administer dental procedures to inmates.
• Team Leadership: Direct the daily activities of dental staff to support safe and efficient operations.
• Specialist Assistance: Support dental specialists during on‑site procedures and related care.
• Operational Safety: Follow all required security protocols, tool controls, and material handling rules.
• Care Coordination: Consult with and refer inmate patients to medical, surgical, or dental specialists as needed.

• Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, four days per week, with a 30‑minute lunch break; rotating days off. You will not be required to work evenings or on‑call duties.
• Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 55.
• DEA license renewal and liability insurance is covered by the Commonwealth.
• Up to 50 hours of additional paid leave for job‑related continuing medical education.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Competitive, with potential for yearly incentive payments in addition to your standard salary (Quality Assurance Payments).

• Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.
• Applicants are considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• You must possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
