Position Overview
Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Dentist and make a meaningful impact every day. At the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Smithfield, you will provide essential care to inmates and support their overall health needs. Responsibilities- Deliver routine dental treatments and preventive services.
- Assess oral health conditions and recommend appropriate care.
- Collaborate with auxiliary staff to support patient needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of dental evaluations and procedures.
- Follow clinical guidelines and uphold ethical dental practices.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break; no evenings, weekends, or on‑call duties. - Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 55.
- DEA license renewal and liability insurance are covered by the Commonwealth.
- Up to 50 hours of additional paid leave for job‑related continuing medical education.
- Telework not available for this position.
- Competitive salary with potential yearly incentive payments (Quality Assurance Payments).
- Graduation from an approved school of dentistry (or within 3 months of graduation).
- Valid Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry license to practice dentistry.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA, is required; PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
