Print fresh is seeking an Assistant Designer to help bring our joyful, print-forward sleepwear collections to life.
This is a hands-on design role for someone with 1–3 years of professional experience who can translate seasonal direction into accurate CADs, technical sketches, colorways, print and embroidery layouts, tech packs, and well-resolved samples.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting the development of women’s apparel/sleepwear and understands how a product moves from initial concept through production. They are highly organized, technically capable, visually thoughtful, and eager to grow within a creative, fast-moving, and size-inclusive brand.
This is a full-time, in-house position, working out of our Philadelphia office M-F.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and Product Development
- Create and update sleepwear CADs, technical flats, construction sketches, and product mockups.
- Translate creative direction into clear, accurate, and production-ready design information.
- Develop colorways, print mini bodies, print placements, and artwork mockups.
- Assist with embroidery layouts, placement diagrams, scale options, and color callouts.
- Prepare product visuals and presentations for seasonal reviews and milestone meetings.
- Update designs as silhouettes, proportions, construction details, colors, and artwork evolve.
Sample Review and Execution
- Participate in proto, fit, and sample reviews.
- Review samples for alignment with the approved design, including proportion, color, print placement, embroidery, trims, and overall appearance.
- Prepare clear design comments and update CADs, artwork, and technical information following reviews.
- Track revisions, samples, approvals, and outstanding design decisions through completion.
- Flag inconsistencies, missing information, and execution issues before they affect timelines.
Tech Packs and Design Organization
- Create and maintain tech packs in partnership with Product Development and Technical Design.
- Keep construction details, colorways, artwork placements, trims, and embroidery information accurate and current.
- Maintain seasonal design files, physical working boards, line plans, and presentation decks.
- Help ensure cross-functional partners are working from the most current design information.
- Support preparation for design handoffs, line reviews, and seasonal presentations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Print and CAD, Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and Merchandising.
- Communicate proactively about missing information, outstanding decisions, and potential timeline risks.
- Manage multiple styles and development stages while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Help keep seasonal development organized, clearly communicated, and on schedule.
- 1–3 years of professional experience as an Assistant Designer, Design Assistant, or similar role within apparel, sleepwear, intimates, dresses, or women’s woven products.
- Degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Professional experience creating apparel CADs, technical flats, colorways, and artwork mockups.
- Working knowledge of garment construction, fabrication, trims, and the apparel-development process.
- Strong eye for color, print, scale, proportion, and detail.
- Ability to interpret creative direction and translate feedback into accurate design updates.
- Highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Genuine interest in expressive, print-led, and size-inclusive design.
- Portfolio demonstrating relevant apparel-design work required.
- Experience creating or updating tech packs.
