Job Status: Permanent/Full Time
Job Description: Saint Jude School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our academic and faith-centered learning community. The ideal candidate will help students develop a deep understanding of history, geography, civics, economics, and global awareness while fostering critical thinking and Catholic social values.
Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum- Plan and deliver engaging Social Studies lessons aligned with Archdiocesan and state standards.
- Encourage inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and historical analysis skills.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records.
- Differentiate instruction to support academic growth for all learners.
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment.
- Promote collaboration, responsibility, and civic-minded thinking among students.
- Maintain classroom management practices aligned with Catholic values and school policies.
- Foster student engagement through interactive and meaningful learning experiences.
- Integrate Catholic teachings and social justice principles into Social Studies instruction.
- Support the mission of Catholic education in all aspects of teaching and learning.
- Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and other faith-based activities.
- Model Christian values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and support staff to enhance instruction and school culture.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, committees, and school events.
- Valid teaching certification (Diocesan/state certification required or in progress).
- Experience teaching middle school students strongly preferred.
- Practicing Catholic strongly preferred with commitment to Catholic education mission.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
If the position is offered, the candidate will be required to complete the “Protecting God’s Children” training through the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Additional information regarding this training can be found here.
