Responsibilities
Instructional work conducting classroom and on-the-job training for labor, plant operation and maintenance trades, library assistants, clerical personnel, and correctional basic education for inmates. Employees in this class instruct others on methods, techniques, and procedures for performing duties in these fields.
Positions in the Library Assistant specialty Culinary Literacy assignment assist in delivering culinary literacy programs to the public.
Employees in the Correctional Basic Education specialty conduct an Adult Basic Education course and monitor inmates completing a basic literacy and math curriculum in the Prisons Department.
Significant aspects of the work involve effective communication with training program participants and helping to develop and administer an in-service training program.
Employees in this class report to a technical or administrative superior.
Qualifications- Two years of library patron services experience.
- Two years of experience as a Library Assistant 3.
- Education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade or GED.
- Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in the Free Library of Philadelphia with a performance rating of Satisfactory or higher.
Ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
Licenses and Certifications- Valid proper class motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (if required by work assignment).
- CPR instructor certification (if required by work assignment).
- Serv Safe certification issued by the National Restaurant Association within twelve months of appointment (if required by assignment).
