As a Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher for the Department of Corrections, you will share hands‑on knowledge that can help others build brighter futures. Responsibilities- Curriculum Adaptation: Adapt curriculum materials to meet student needs based on screening and placement results
- Classroom Instruction: Provide instruction across building and construction trade subjects with a focus on masonry skills
- Student Assessment: Develop and administer quizzes, tests, and evaluations to measure progress
- Record Management: Update and maintain education, attendance, inventory, and payroll records according to procedures
- Classroom Environment: Monitor behavior, enforce rules, and take corrective action to maintain a safe learning space
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.

- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage‑earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical, or
- if there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage‑earning experience in the specified parenthetical.
- Please Note: The specified parenthetical for this posting is Masonry. The specific apprenticeship period for this parenthetical is 2 years.
- Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of or eligible for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate I or II for the specified parenthetical, or
- You must be in possession of or eligible for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical, or
- You must be eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.
- Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the Residency Guidelines.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
