Chichester School District is looking for an Autistic Support Teacher to join our team for the School Year!

The ideal candidate will implement an intensive instruction model, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The ASD teacher is responsible for planning instruction and adapting the general/special education curriculum to accommodate students in the learning process.

- Bachelor's degree in Special Education required
- Experience working with students with autism required
- Valid PA license in Special Education required
- 3-5 years of relevant classroom teaching experience at the elementary school level, including an understanding of their unique developmental, social, and academic needs
- Demonstrated understanding of educational technology integration in the classroom
- Demonstrated understanding of effective teaching strategies for different learning styles and aptitudes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation, listening and observational skills
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, including the ability to plan and manage projects
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, volunteers and school administration from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to navigate challenging situations with discretion and diplomacy
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Passion for bettering the lives of students
- Desire to seek out professional development activities related to the latest instructional strategies, student growth and best pedagogical practices
- Willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the Chichester community
- Comply with timelines, laws, and regulations as it relates to district, state, and federal policies and procedures
- Develop timely and compliant IEPs for eligible students
- Plan and implement academic instruction for students who exhibit communication, social, and behavioral challenges using evidence‑based methods and modified curriculum materials as well as general education curriculum
- Plan and implement non‑academic instruction in areas such as social skills, toilet training, community based instruction
- Document and share student progress on goals and objectives, accommodations, service time, and discipline/suspensions
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students' progress
- Provide support to general education classroom teachers and special teachers
- Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans including a classroom plan and any needed individual plans as well as carry out these plans
- Maintain consistent contact with parents
- Participate in building level meetings as directed by the building principal
- Fulfill district and state professional development requirements
- Participate in implementation of Positive Behavior Support Initiative (PBIS) building initiatives
- Integrate technology use in the classroom
- Other duties as assigned by special education supervisor and building administration
- Implement Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program
- Complete all necessary special education forms including IEP, NOREP, etc.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized programs
- Ability to implement and monitor the Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
