Position: Credit Recovery Teacher (RHSIA)

Credit Recovery Teacher

Position Goal:
The Credit Recovery Teacher at the Reading High School Innovation Academy (RHSIA) supports high school students in earning credits toward graduation through online and blended learning platforms, including Edgenuity. The teacher collaborates with administrators, counselors, families, and support staff to monitor student progress, provide academic support, and promote successful course completion. In addition, the Credit Recovery Teacher helps introduce ninth-grade students to RHSIA's career pathways and learning opportunities, fostering engagement, academic success, and future participation in pathway programs while helping students stay on track for graduation.

Qualifications:

Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in any secondary (7-12) content area required Prerequisite

Skills:

Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with high school students and families Knowledge of instructional technology and online learning platforms preferred Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to work flexibly within a variety of educational settings and student support structures, both online and in-person

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
Support high school students enrolled in credit recovery coursework through online learning platforms, including, but not limited to Edgenuity, in-person instruction, and/or blended instruction. Deliver in-person lessons designed to introduce 9th grade students to the career pathways at the Innovation Academy with the goal of encouraging students to stay engaged and on track with their credits. Monitor student progress, engagement, attendance, pacing, and course completion.

Grade student work and enter grades into reporting system, as needed Provide academic assistance, encouragement, and intervention to help students remain on track toward graduation Maintain communication with counselors, administrators, families, and other staff regarding student progress and needs Assist with student onboarding, orientation, and understanding of program expectations Review student performance data and identify concerns related to participation, progress, or academic integrity Participate in meetings with students, families, counselors, administrators, and support staff as needed Support implementation of accommodations and modifications in alignment with student IEPs, 504 Plans, and multilingual learner needs Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and program requirements Promote a positive, supportive, and structured learning environment focused on student success Engage in relevant professional learning opportunities to stay abreast of new technologies, research and trends in education Assist with operational procedures related to credit recovery programming as assigned Perform other duties related to student support, credit recovery, and related educational programming as assigned by administration
