Professional Development Facilitator

Director of Curriculum and Instruction - PK-8 Central Office Associate Principal of Teaching & Learning - RHS Position Goal:
Serves as a resource in the implementation of best instructional practices and collaborates with district and building level leadership to develop processes and procedures for meeting the instructional needs of students in the Reading School District.
Essential Functions:
Other duties may be assigned. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:
- Collaborates with district and building instructional leaders in implementing challenging and rigorous curriculum, with all students, based on the Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
- Become an expert in the core reading, math, science and social studies program to ensure implementation by classroom teachers.
- Provides information, resources and support relevant to teaching; including, but not limited to, effective and/or innovative teaching strategies, assessment techniques, interpretation of and response to assessment data, classroom routines and best practices, culturally responsive teaching and learning, content area instruction, literacy, technology and interventions for students at risk of academic failure.
- Delivers professional development during the school year and throughout the summer in a variety of formats including, but not limited to:
Individual discussions Coaching Sessions Demonstration lessons with pre and post discussion/analysis Study groups Informal meetings Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) Professional development and/or in-service training programs Workshops Induction Schedules and engages in classroom visitations, as appropriate and necessary, to support teachers as they plan, deliver and assess content instruction, under the supervision of District and Building Administration, so that the objectives of the Reading School District's Comprehensive Plan will be achieved. - Participates in professional development activities to keep abreast of current evidence-based practices.
- Collects, compiles and analyzes professional development data to determine the effectiveness of Professional Development efforts and uses the data to assist with the development of the Reading School District's Professional Development Plan.
- Complies with local, state and federal policies. Maintains all relative paperwork consistently and in an appropriate manner. Maintains the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and students. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

This position currently does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Education required;
Master's Degree in Education;
Minimum of five years teaching experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: PA Teaching Certificate Instructional Level II;
Valid PA driver's license.
Language
Skills:
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend in English fluently. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional and technical journals, governmental regulations and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from staff and regulatory agencies. Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly in English. Strong public speaking skills.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to work mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions for practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze, compile and maintain accurate data.
Other
Skills and Abilities:
Computer skills including, but not limited to, e-mail, word-processing, data entry, data processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to develop and maintain accurate data, records and reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the school community. Ability to promote cultural understanding within the school, district and community.
