Assistant Professor, Eastern Christian Theology & Culture
Villanova University in Villanova, PA is seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Eastern Christian Theology & Culture, beginning August 2027.
Responsibilities- Teach a range of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses in Eastern Christian traditions, including an introductory course in THL 1000 and electives.
- Develop and deliver courses that support the department’s curriculum.
- Advance a scholarly research program with peer‑reviewed publications in the field.
- Serve the department, college, university, and professional communities.
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Theology, Religious Studies, or a cognate field with a focus on Eastern Christian Theology & Culture, completed by August 2027.
- Competence in relevant languages of the research area.
- Evidence of present or potential engagement with Catholicism in its theological and religious traditions.
- Experience teaching or mentoring at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
- Familiarity with Greek or Syriac Patristics, Byzantine Theology & Culture, Russian Religious Thought, or contemporary Orthodox or Eastern Catholic theology & culture.
