What You'll Do

As a Math Teacher, you will plan and implement age appropriate lessons meeting the needs of individuals enrolled in the elementary program and create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, while establishing effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation to become lifelong learners; and establish positive relationships with parents, staff and community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides instruction based on approved curriculum.

Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet individual student needs.

Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress notes.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians by means of conferences, notes, phone calls, e-mail, and newsletters.

Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.

Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and participate in developing strategies for individual education plans.

Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school.

Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on educational trips.

Create a functional and organized environment for learning.

Utilize and implement behavior management, communication, and conflict resolution techniques, progressive crisis intervention techniques, and perform Safety Crisis Management when required.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's Degree

PA Teaching Certification (Public School Certification or Private Academic School Certification) (Mathematics Instructional Certification)

Experience using effective behavior management techniques in relating to children to encourage participation and positive relationships and demonstrates enthusiasm in lessons.

Must be 21 years of age

  • The employee is required to stand, walk, run, use hands and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must have the physical ability to restrain a resident while utilizing the tenets of Safe Crisis Management training.
