Position Summary
The Catholic Montessori Assistant Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher to create and maintain a peaceful, prepared Montessori environment where each child is recognized as a unique gift from God. Through faithful witness, joyful service, and attentive care, the Assistant Teacher nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of each child while supporting the mission of Catholic education. The Assistant Teacher helps guide children toward love, virtue, independence, and a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
EssentialResponsibilities Montessori Classroom Support
- Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining an orderly, beautiful, and developmentally appropriate Montessori environment.
- Guide children in the respectful use and care of Montessori materials while encouraging independence, responsibility, and self-discipline.
- Support uninterrupted work cycles and foster concentration, order, and peaceful interactions.
- Observe children and communicate developmental needs and progress with the Lead Teacher.
- Assist with classroom preparation, supervision, transitions, outdoor play, meals, and daily care routines.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Lead and participate in daily prayer, Scripture, and faith formation activities.
- Foster a classroom rooted in love, peace, respect, and the dignity of every child as created in the image and likeness of God.
- Guide children in developing Christian virtues, including kindness, humility, patience, honesty, responsibility, gratitude, forgiveness, and charity.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher, Head of School, faculty, and families.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and positive communication.
- High school diploma required; early childhood education or Montessori experience preferred.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing and able to sign an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
