School Psychologist / Social Skills Instructor

The Exeter Township School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated individual to be part of our educational team. Position Summary The School Psychologist plays a critical role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success of students. In accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) guidelines and Chapter 14 regulations. The ideal candidate will balance a dual focus: conducting comprehensive psycho educational evaluations and delivering direct, evidence-based interventions.

This position places a strong emphasis on providing targeted social skills instruction and self-regulation coaching to individuals and small groups, helping students navigate the school environment effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation & Reporting (Special Education Compliance)
  • Conduct comprehensive initial psycho educational evaluations and reevaluations in compliance with Pennsylvania Chapter 14 regulations and IDEA.
  • Administer, score, and interpret standardized assessments measuring cognitive ability, academic achievement, adaptive functioning, and social-emotional/behavioral status.
  • Lead multidisciplinary team meetings to present evaluation findings and determine special education eligibility.
  • Assist with crisis prevention, threat assessment, suicide risk assessments, and post-crisis intervention in collaboration with district crisis teams.
  • Design and implement evidence-based social skills instruction for students with diverse needs (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Disturbance, ADHD).
  • Explicitly teach self-regulation strategies, emotional coping mechanisms, and executive functioning skills to help students manage stress, frustration, and impulses.
  • Facilitate structured small-group and individual counseling/coaching sessions focused on pro-social behaviors and conflict resolution.
  • Monitor student progress on social-emotional IEP goals and adjust interventions based on data.

Consultation & Collaboration

  • Partner with teachers, counselors, and administrators as part of multi-disciplinary student teams.
  • Participate actively in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) or Student Assistance Program (SAP) teams to provide pre-referral strategies.
  • Consult with parents/guardians to bridge the gap between home and school strategies for self-regulation and social growth.
  • Provide coaching and consultation regarding trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, executive functioning supports, and classroom management.
  • Partner with school counselors, social workers, special education staff, behavior specialists, and administrators to coordinate services.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    Master's degree or Doctorate in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Certification:
    Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education Certificate in School Psychology.
