Mechanical Design Engineering
Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Design Engineering opening with an equipment manufacturer that is located in Berks County. This person will be responsible for collaborating with internal and external teams in creating advanced CAD models of manufacturing equipment and plant layouts. This role ensures designs are functional and manufacturable, and oversees the creation of bills of materials, as well as issuing design packages for manufacturing and purchasing.
Below is a summary of responsibilities associated with this position:
- Design bakery equipment using 3D CAD software to evaluate form, fit, and function.
- Develop plant layouts to optimize process flow and equipment placement.
- Modify existing designs to enhance equipment functionality per customer requirements.
- Ensure all drawings comply with engineering and manufacturing standards.
- Create comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) for both manufactured and purchased components.
- Train and guide team members on design standards, 3D modeling, and CAD system operations.
- Collaborate with project engineers, applications engineers, and customer teams to resolve design challenges.
- Lead design projects and provide technical leadership to design, manufacturing, and assembly personnel.
- Create detailed CAD drawings and illustrations of bakery equipment and components.
- Provide regular feedback to enhance operational efficiency.
Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Associate's/Technical Degree in Engineering and 2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated design/drafting experience in CAD-focused, precision engineering, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience using Solid Edge, Solid Works, AutoCAD, Inventor software or similar products is a must, you will be asked to bring a portfolio of your work, barring confidentiality concerns to an interview.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering documents, drawings, and manuals with correlation to the BOM.
- Advanced technical math skills (geometry, algebra, percentages, ratios).
- Strong problem-solving and reasoning abilities.
- Experience with precise measuring instruments.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and management levels.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reading, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
