Industrial Control Panel Engineer
This role focuses on designing, modeling, and supporting industrial control panels in compliance with UL 508A and other relevant standards. You will create proof-of-concept designs, develop and review electrical schematics, support new product introduction and production, and collaborate closely with customers to provide high-quality technical solutions. The position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and proficiency with CAD tools and ERP systems.
ResponsibilitiesRespond to requests for information and requests for quotes (RFI, RFQ) with accurate technical input and clear documentation.
Select and evaluate the suitability of components and conductors based on application requirements and compliance with UL 508A.
Create initial 3D models and bills of materials (BOMs) for industrial control panel proof-of-concept designs for potential customers.
Review and generate electrical schematics in accordance with UL 508A and other applicable standards.
Prioritize work effectively and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Provide strong technical expertise on customer products and solutions, maintaining a competent level of knowledge and hands-on experience across plant-specific products.
Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by collaborating with engineering, production, and customers to ensure successful launch and integration of new designs.
Assist production teams and customers with technical guidance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of control panel designs and processes.
Help with inspection and testing of panels to verify conformance with design specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine designs, improve manufacturability, and enhance overall product performance.
Essential SkillsBachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience using Syte Line or a similar ERP system.
Skill in using CAD software such as Creo, AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS and/or similar design tools.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with internal teams and customers.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Detail-oriented approach with a strong focus on customer needs and quality.
Knowledge of UL 508A standards for industrial control panels.
Familiarity with IPC-A-620 and NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code).

Hands-on experience with inspection and testing of electrical panels.

Work EnvironmentYou will work in a professional engineering and production environment focused on industrial control panel design and manufacturing. The role involves regular use of engineering software such as Creo, AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Microsoft Office tools, and an ERP system such as Syte Line. You will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and customer-facing teams and may spend time both at a desk performing design work and on the shop floor supporting inspection and testing of panels.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reading, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
