Overview
Installation Police Officer, DMVA with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) supports police services and protection for Fort Indiantown Gap installation. The role involves staying active, applying training and experience, and contributing to the security of the installation through a range of police duties.
Description of WorkThis position provides police services and protection to employees, the public, and property at Fort Indiantown Gap. Responsibilities include the following:
- Patrol Duties:
Patrol buildings and grounds on foot and by vehicle to maintain safety - Law Enforcement:
Enforce federal, state, and local laws through warnings, citations, or arrests - Emergency Response:
Respond to calls for assistance and determine the nature of reported emergencies - Investigations:
Investigate accidents, criminal activity, unusual incidents, and alarms and document findings - Reporting Tasks:
Prepare police reports, maintain activity logs, and document probable cause for warrants - Equipment Operation:
Operate patrol vehicles, communications equipment, and other law enforcement tools

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are rotating shifts (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) with rotating days off

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training.
Special Requirements- Possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
- PA residency requirement or information on Residency Guidelines
- Pass a physical ability test based on MP0
ETC physical fitness assessment standards - Possess a valid federal or state-issued photo pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap
- Maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once issued
- Obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification within the probationary period
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation
- Conditional offer requires medical examination and a drug screening
- Falls under Child Protective Services Law
- Conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
