Job Summary

Documents patient care and results of treatment appropriately in the medical record to comply with policies and procedures of the department and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Occupational Therapist with evaluation, directing, planning, and providing Occupational Therapy treatment for patients of all ages.
  • Adhere to unit-specific standards of care, clinical guidelines, and protocols in rendering patient care.
  • Assist with assessments established by unit standards and address the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients and families.
  • Complete assessments on all admissions and discharges.
  • Assist in formulating a plan of care based on identified patient problem areas in conjunction with the patient, family, and other health care team members.
  • Administer treatments according to priority and department procedure.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of therapy interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response or lack of progress.
  • Coordinate and provide patient care, discharge planning, and patient and family education through initiation and participation in care conferences.
  • Provide education and instructions to the patient and family specific to the patient's needs and individual treatment program.
  • Thoroughly document standardized assessments, reassessments, treatments, response to treatment, discharge summary, patient and family education in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide for patient equipment and therapy needs when applicable after discharge.
  • Make patient assignments in collaboration with other team members; direct and alter assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
  • Utilize patient and employee occurrence and incident reports.
  • Interpret and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.

Requirements
  • Associate's Degree – Occupational Therapy (Required).
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience (Preferred).
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant – National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT) (Required).
  • Skills:

    Health Care Policy And Ethics Compliance, Interpersonal Communication, Physiotherapy, Rehab Assessment And Care, Rehabilitation Practices/Programs, Teamwork, Therapeutic Treatment.
