Job Profile TitleResource Technologist B
Job SummaryThe Resource Technologist B/C will provide high‑quality cell sorting and analytical services to investigators using the Penn Cytomics and Cell Sorting Shared Resource Laboratory. Working closely with the Technical Director, the candidate will develop quality‑assurance protocols, perform and document daily QA of cytometry instrumentation across multiple departments, and implement best practices for analysis and cell sorting. The role requires knowledge of complex flow cytometry instrumentation and biosafety practices (for the C level) and may involve training users, updating standard operating procedures, and participating in equipment or protocol validation.
Continuing education in cytometry is expected; professional cytometry certification (SCYM ASCP CM) is a plus with support to obtain it.
- Minimum of 5 years of analytical flow cytometry or cell‑sorting experience.
- Knowledge of biosafety practices and procedures.
- Training qualified users for independent cell sorting and analysis.
- Participation in continuing education in cytometry.
- Resource Technologist B:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field and 3‑5 years of experience with analytical flow cytometry or cell sorting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Proficiency with cell sorters, flow cytometers, and FACSDiva software is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. ASCP Specialist in Cytometry accreditation is highly desirable. - Resource Technologist C:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field and 5‑7 years of experience with analytical flow cytometry or cell sorting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Proficiency with cell sorters, flow cytometers, and FACSDiva software is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. ASCP Specialist in Cytometry accreditation is highly desirable.
