THE POSITION
The Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 3 role with the Department of Corrections (DOC) is a chance to guide important maintenance work at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) s position allows you to lead teams that keep daily operations running smoothly. You will handle a mix of planning, organizing, and hands‑on oversight. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility and the satisfaction of supporting a large, active facility.
DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the overall direction of maintenance operations at the State Correctional Facility at Somerset, including physical plant systems, utility functions, and staff oversight. It plays an important part in coordinating daily work and ensuring that maintenance tasks are carried out properly. As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 3, you will perform the following duties:
- Operations Planning:
Manage daily maintenance activities, determine staffing priorities, and guide work processes - Staff Leadership:
Assign tasks, oversee maintenance staff, provide training, review inmate training progress, and conduct scheduled meetings - Record Management:
Prepare reports, review requisitions, and maintain required personnel and budget records - Safety Oversight:
Inspect work sites, ensure compliance with safety standards, and document any concerns - Emergency Response:
Act as Tool Control Officer and Duty Officer, respond to after‑hours situations, and support incident procedures - Facility Security:
Search work areas, monitor tool use, and maintain secure work environments
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60‑minute unpaid lunch
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
- Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $68,793.00 (before taxes)
- One year of experience as a Facility Maintenance Manager 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Two years as a Facility Maintenance Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Three years of experience as a Utilities Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Seven years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including four years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
