The Department of Transportation is looking for an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager who is ready to take on meaningful responsibility. In this position, you will assist with planning, supervising crews, and coordinating maintenance activities across the county. This position supports the County Maintenance Manager by planning work, supervising crews, and coordinating maintenance programs throughout Franklin County. The work ensures safe operations, efficient use of resources, and consistent completion of maintenance activities. As an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Supervision: Oversee maintenance crews and guide daily activities for roadway and bridge work
- Project Planning: Prepare work plans, estimates, and schedules for both short and long term operations
- Resource Management: Review needs for materials, equipment, and personnel and recommend actions for future work
- Agreement Coordination: Manage and monitor agency agreements and work with local officials on shared projects
- Emergency Response: Support incident and emergency management activities within the county
- Inspection Oversight: Conduct inspections of work sites, review practices, and coordinate contract work as needed
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
