Position Overview
As a Roadway Programs Manager 1 with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, you will lead high-energy efforts that strengthen the daily travel experience for thousands of residents. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking charge, solving problems, and motivating others toward shared goals. You will help drive improvements that keep roads safe and dependable, inspiring progress that communities notice and appreciate.
Responsibilities- Program Oversight:
Review and guide maintenance programs to support consistent planning and operations across the district. - System Coordination:
Manage PM, SRM, and SAP activities to help counties follow procedures and meet program requirements. - Data Review:
Examine information on personnel, equipment, and materials to identify trends and recommend improvements. - County Support:
Provide guidance to counties by helping them plan, schedule, and budget their roadway work programs. - Inventory Management:
Lead district wide inventory monitoring by ensuring reports and audits meet policy standards. - Staff Leadership:
Direct and evaluate staff while supporting training, performance reviews, and workflow planning.
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Telework:
Up to 3 days per week, provided you have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location within Pennsylvania. Telework availability may change at any time. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Two years of experience as a Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor or Roadway Programs Specialist, or one year as a Roadway Programs Coordinator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
- Two years of professional experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a civil‑engineering related discipline.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
