R.M. Palmer Company, LLC designs, produces, packages, and ships seasonal chocolate novelties. Its products include filled chocolates, solid chocolates, chocolate bars and balls, chocolate cups and coins, chocolate patties, and seasonal products. In addition to their own branded products, the Company co-manufactures both seasonal and everyday products for other large branded companies. Today, the Company operates out of two manufacturing facilities and one distribution facility with ~600 full-time employees.
R.M. Palmer Company, LLC has some of the most differentiated manufacturing capabilities in the industry as one of the only companies in the U.S. able to make hollow molded chocolate candy products and multicolor chocolate candy novelties.
The Machinist fabricates parts from blueprints or samples using manual and CNC machines, demonstrating attention to detail while maintaining a clean workspace and meeting production and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate custom machine parts using manual lathes, mills, and other shop equipment.
- Program and operate CNC machines with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Keep machine tools clean and in good working order.
- Train and assist fellow employees in machining techniques.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain high safety standards.
Knowledge/Skills :
- Proficient in manual machining (milling, turning, grinding).
- Skilled in CNC programming and operation.
- Strong understanding of materials such as carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, tool steel, and plastics.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
- Competent in the use of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
- Strong mathematical skills, including working with fractions, decimals, and geometry.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Minimum of 5 years machining experience as a journey-level machinist in a production environment.
- Certificate or degree from technical or trade school preferred.
