Quality Lab Technician-Reading, PA
Pay: $24.22-$32.94
Shift: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, Monday-Friday
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory testing, analysis, and reporting to ensure polymer products meet quality standards and customer specifications. This role supports production through accurate data collection, equipment calibration, and inspection of raw materials, while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 standards and contributing to continuous improvement and safe laboratory operations.
What You Will Do:
- Perform laboratory testing on polymer materials, including physical, mechanical, electrical, and ultrasonic testing to support production and customer requirements.
- Prepare, analyze, and report test results, using sound judgment to ensure compliance with specifications, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Inspect and qualify incoming raw materials and products to verify adherence to established requirements.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Execute equipment shutdown procedures safely and efficiently in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through 6S practices and preventative maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality control plans, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis (RCA), DMAIC projects, and process experiments.
- Utilize computer systems and software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP systems) for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support laboratory and production operations.
- Laboratory testing methods and equipment, including Instron, DMA, DSC, TMA, rheology, and other material testing systems.
- Industry standards and test methods such as ASTM, ISO, and ANSI, including unit measurement and conversions.
- Principles of quality control, process compliance, and ISO 9001 standards and documentation.
- Calibration techniques, measurement systems, and use of precision tools such as micrometers.
- Data analysis, reporting techniques, and problem-solving methodologies including RCA and DMAIC.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and ERP systems.
- Workplace safety practices and a commitment to maintaining an injury-free environment.
- Strong foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and comprehension necessary for technical lab work.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong reading, writing, mathematical, and comprehension skills.
- Experience performing laboratory protocols, including physical, mechanical, electrical, and ultrasonic testing.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as Instron, DMA, DSC, TMA, and rheology systems.
- Knowledge of industry test methods (ASTM, ISO, ANSI) and associated units and conversions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience calibrating measurement instruments and using calibration software.
- General understanding of ISO 9001 standards and documentation practices.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, injury-free work environment.
The salary range for this position is $24.22-$32.94. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
