Job Summary

This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Mixer Machine and delivering high‑quality product while meeting deadlines safely. The role also includes creating SOP and other production documentation, managing inventory data entry, and cross‑training into other job functions as needed. Routine attendance at departmental, production, safety and company meetings is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential (45%) - Set‑up, operate, troubleshoot, and make necessary adjustments to the Mixer machine following established procedures and guidelines with minimal supervision. Perform visual inspection and general preventive maintenance of the mixer and press area. Review orders and verify all EPDM & formulas are correct. Gather necessary materials, read/review formulas, weigh out materials and place in auger, pump oil & water as specified, operate the Mixer control panel, wait for mixture to complete, pour mixture into mold, use chain crane to place lid on mold, and use hydraulic press to press mold to proper length.

  • Pump oil & water as necessary per formula specifications.
  • Operate the Mixer control panel.

  • Using chain crane, place lid on mold.
  • Using hydraulic press, press mold to proper length.

Secondary (18%) - Adhere to and follow all quality guidelines. Continually check product quality throughout the manufacturing process.

Operate hoist, hydraulic press, bucket truck and fork truck (10%) - Lift and transport raw materials and finished products while adhering to all power industrial equipment rules and safety requirements.

Clean and maintain equipment (10%) - Maintain a clean work environment by wiping down machine and cleaning work area with an air hose after each order, operating grinding machine as necessary, and reporting any maintenance issues immediately.

Transfer and separate EPDM bags (5%) - Open bags and pour into hopper according to mold specification.

Use computer to log production data (5%) - Login, enter and review production data and work orders.

Communicate production status (5%) - Provide constant communication with management staff regarding high‑end quality materials.

Cross‑train into other job functions (2%) - Assist within the department as necessary.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • High School Diploma/GED or 4 years of machine operator/manufacturing experience.
  • English fluency (read, write, speak); ability to communicate well (written/verbal).
  • Forklift certification/experience desired; bucket truck experience preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience required; machine‑specific experience preferred.
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment, pay attention to detail, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Read and understand units of measure.
  • Perform basic math functions.
  • Comfort with data entry and basic computer skills; ERP experience preferred.
  • Safety conscious and carry out responsibilities safely.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet operational requirements.
  • Physical ability to safely perform job demands.
Work Environment
  • Operating in a manufacturing setting with high‑pressure air/steam/gas, hazardous fumes, extreme heat and temperature variations, loud noise, dangerous machinery, dirty work environment, and/or dust (pigment). PPE required: safety glasses, steel toe/composite boots and earplugs.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, tool use, repetitive actions, bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, lifting, pounding, pushing, and pulling; move throughout the work location to comply with safety requirements.
  • Exert up to 130 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, or up to 20 pounds constantly.
  • Manual dexterity for material handling and equipment operation.
  • Effective communication (write, speak) with supervisors and others.
  • Adequate hearing to receive instructions and respond to changes.
