Job Summary

Responsible for the overall operation of department machines and supplying high‑quality product while meeting deadlines in a safe manner. Additional responsibilities include training and directing Assistants, assisting with SOP creation and production documentation, inventory data entry, and cross‑training into other job functions as needed. Routine attendance at departmental, production, safety, and company meetings is required.

• Operate all department machinery (mixing, extruding, grinding, and the small grinder) with minimal supervision, including assisting Grinder crews during full cleans and filling in for absences.
• Adhere to and follow all quality guidelines, continually checking product quality throughout the manufacturing process and working with the supervisor and crew to ensure Standard Work and 6S guidelines are followed.
• Operate a forklift to lift and transport raw materials and finished products while complying with all power‑industrial equipment rules and safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean work environment, keep tools and equipment orderly, store them appropriately for easy access, and report any maintenance issues immediately to the supervisor and maintenance department.
• Utilize the computer at the workstation to log in, enter/review production data, and manage work orders as required.
• Cross‑train into other job functions and provide assistance as necessary or during downtime within the department.

• High School Diploma/GED or 4 years of machine operator/manufacturing experience.
• English fluency (read, write, speak).
• Proven ability to multitask in a stressful environment (dirty, confined spaces, strict timelines), demonstrate attention to detail, and adapt to changing demands.
• Ability to read and understand units of measure.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Comfort with data entry and basic computer skills; ERP experience preferred.
• Safety consciousness and ability to carry out responsibilities safely.
• Ability to work overtime to meet operational requirements.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the role.
• 12 months forklift experience.
• 12 months manufacturing or machine operating experience.
• Ability to wear a mask when required and work from heights.
• Ability to learn operation of all Color Mill machines within 6 months.

Manufacturing environment may involve high‑pressure air/steam/gas, hazardous chemical fumes, extreme heat and temperature variations, loud noise, exposure to dangerous machinery, dirty work environment, and dust (pigment). PPE required includes safety glasses, steel‑toe/composite boots, and earplugs.

• Prolonged standing, walking, use of tools, and repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, lifting (up to 55 pounds), pounding, pushing, and/or pulling.
• Manual dexterity and effective communication (write and speak) with supervisors and others regarding performance and safety concerns.
• Adequate hearing ability, attention to detail, time management, and adherence to safety policies.
