Overview
As a Church Planter, you will be the spiritual, visional, and multiplication leader of a church planting team in a location determined through our discernment and assessment process. You will be responsible to seek the Lord’s direction in implementing a vision and strategy for creating a disciple‑making community. Through the creation of a church planting team, you will foster a community that is rooted in the Gospel, lives on faith‑filled mission with Jesus, and exercises courageous leadership.
Each church planter is expected to be a Gospel‑rooted, courageous, missional, and catalytic leader that meets the biblical qualifications of an elder. You are expected to lead the church planting team to be highly focused on disciple making, collaborative, and have a high level of excellence. You are expected to be developmental and creative in your approach to establishing a culture that leads to an effective multiplying work.
Responsibilities- Conceptualize, develop, and lead the execution of a church planting strategy that sees a multiplying disciple‑making community established.
- Oversee the curations of values, habits, and stories that create a culture of living with Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and commitment to the mission of Jesus.
- Effectively recruit, lead, develop, coach, and oversee the church planting team and leadership toward being a Gospel‑rooted, courageous, and faith‑filled people.
- Live missionally in the neighborhood where the church is to be rooted.
- Clearly and passionately communicate the Gospel in a variety of environments.
- Care for the spiritual maturity and development of the church.
- Clear articulation of personal faith in Jesus, demonstrated character qualities of biblical elder, and an affinity for the philosophy of ministry of the District (i.e. Gospel development in regional networks).
- Licensed, or willing to be licensed, as an official worker of the Alliance.
- Complete our district’s discernment/assessment process to determine readiness to plant.
- Demonstrated experience of multiplication in the local church.
- Experience with starting ministries in new contexts, communities, and cultures.
- Highly strategic, organized, and entrepreneurial with exceptional communication skills.
- Creativity and a willingness to try new approaches.
- Established skills in crisis management, decision‑making, and relationship‑building.
Direct reports to Executive Director of the district unless planting under the leadership of a district church.
CompensationTBD based on Church Plant Development Plan.
