Position

Description:

The Corporate Giving Manager is an important member of the External Affairs team at the Franklin Institute. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager is responsible for overseeing the Corporate Membership and Sponsorship programs along with sponsorship of The Franklin Awards Ceremony and Dinner. The Manager will translate these exciting opportunities to current and future audiences to enhance and communicate the value of supporting TFI, and will also:

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate prospects and implement strategies to move prospects through the donor cycle.
  • Manage more than $800,000 in sponsorship fundraising for the Franklin Awards Ceremony and Dinner including identifying new prospects, managing renewals, benefit fulfillment, and overall sponsor logistics.
  • Oversee the Corporate Membership program of 30+ organizations including acquisition efforts, renewals, benefit fulfillment and recognition.
  • Work collaboratively across many departments towards the creation and management of sponsorship opportunities and materials including traveling exhibitions, permanent exhibitions, themed programming and educational programs;
    Coordinate and support onsite activations and sponsorship benefits.
  • Plan and execute corporate volunteer activations.
  • Effectively coordinate prep of meeting materials, solicitations, stewardship reports, and communication with senior Institute leaders, including the President and CEO.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and action by regularly assessing the Department’s long-term goals, and act swiftly to qualify donors, solicit gifts, and secure philanthropic commitments.
  • Produce materials and tools to communicate regularly with institutional supporters and potential institutional supporters.
  • Work with the Director of Development to provide high quality support to volunteer committees including the Awards Corporate Committee.
  • Enter donor activity and strategy into Raiser’s Edge in accordance with internal best practices.
  • Represent the Franklin Institute and the Franklin Institute’s mission at internal and external events with a significant institutional giving donor presence.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3 – 5 years related experience in development or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with managing and strategically growing a portfolio is required.
  • Local knowledge of the Philadelphia business and philanthropic community and an ease with networking a definite plus.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with relationship management software, preferably Raiser’s Edge.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
  • Ability to travel locally, and occasionally regionally and occasionally work nights and weekends to meet fundraising goals.
Abilities and Skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective donors, while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and poise is a must.
