Geisinger offers a part‑time Nursing Assistant position with a minimum hiring rate of $16.25, higher rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts. Up to $40,000 in financial support is available to become a nurse.
Job DutiesWe are looking for a highly motivated individual committed to delivering the highest quality care to our patients. The candidate will meet both orientation and long‑term scheduling requirements of the role, be reliable, punctual, and maintain strong attendance. They will be responsive, dependable, and demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills to support the care team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for performing a wide range of direct patient care activities and clerical duties, depending on unit needs. These tasks must be completed efficiently and timely to enhance care quality.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice and following the multidisciplinary care plan for each patient.
- Observing, identifying, and documenting patient physical needs according to standards.
- Reporting changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Obtaining and maintaining specimen integrity per policy, physician orders, and transporting specimens to the laboratory.
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, linens, and one‑to‑one safety watch.
- Performing point‑of‑care testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
- Assisting in problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and corrective action on equipment and supplies.
- Pre‑ecting and mentoring new staff and students.
- Performing clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, mortalities, and facilitating patient throughput.
- Transcribing and processing orders, confirming tests, and coordinating transportation for patients to multiple tests.
- Communicating provisions such as food service plans and maintaining supplies.
- Operating and maintaining clerical equipment such as computers, fax machines, and phones.
- Assisting with non‑controlled medication and blood product transport as needed.
- Maintaining compliance with all organization policies, procedures, and job‑specific obligations.
