Job Summary
Operating Room Nurse at Einstein Hospital – Level One Trauma Hospital, Full Time, Day shift (40 hours per week). Requires prior operating room experience and completion of Periop 101 preferred. The role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care, nursing process, and individualized care planning.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe, compassionate, and quality nursing care in the operating room.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing plans with patients and their designated care partners.
- Engage patients, families, and staff in shared decision‑making and evidence‑based practice.
- Identify learning needs and provide patient/family education that is understandable and affirming.
- Follow established nursing protocols and performance standards to minimize risk of harm.
- Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision‑making.
- Utilize data to monitor care outcomes and apply improvement methods to design and test changes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, fostering open communication and mutual respect.
- Create an inclusive environment, demonstrating problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor to appropriate staff members; give and receive constructive feedback.
- Participate in hospital‑based committees, including safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in continuous professional growth and development opportunities.
- Specialized Diploma from an accredited nursing school.
- Proficiency in patient and family‑centered practice, cultural awareness, and effective communication.
- Knowledge of patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, and intervention planning.
- Experience with medication administration, prescription, and discharge planning.
- Documentation skills for health information and medical records.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current RN license in Pennsylvania (AHA) or New Jersey (RN‑PA).
- BSN or completion of BSN within 3 years of hire.
- 1 year of RN experience in an acute‑care setting.
- Previous operating room experience.
- Additional advanced degrees or certifications.
Must be able to lift and carry 40–50 lbs, push/pull beds or stretchers, perform lateral transfers, and stand/walk for extended periods. Ability to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR when required.
