Overview
Alliance Cancer Specialists is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our oncology care team at our Sellersville Practice. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative clinical environment as needed. You’ll work closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to support patients through every step of their cancer journey.
Responsibilities- Deliver professional nursing care in accordance with national standards and oncology-specific guidelines
- Assess patient health status through interviews, physical exams, and review of medical history
- Administer medications, blood products, and therapies under physician supervision
- Perform venipuncture, access ports, and maintain central line devices
- Monitor lab results and collaborate with physicians on dose modifications and symptom management
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and available resources
- Provide psychosocial support and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with OSHA and infection control protocols
- Assist with scheduling, triaging patient calls, and managing medication refill requests
- Serve as a mentor to LPNs, MAs, and less experienced nurses
- Participate in professional development and stay current with oncology nursing best practices
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices
- Assist physician with exams and procedures; facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests, referrals, and future appointments
- Facilitate communication between patient/family and the interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care
- Maintain work environment; restock supplies; follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents or biohazardous waste; maintain disinfection protocols and equipment quality control
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture
- Keep patient confidentiality; maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central lines
- Assist in locating community resources and engage in professional research collaboration
- Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed and serve as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants
- Perform other duties as assigned; participate in ongoing educational opportunities to maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
- Current RN license and registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 1–3 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology (3–5 years preferred)
- Oncology certification preferred
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for patient care tasks
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and medical preparations common to oncology clinics
- In-person interaction with patients, physicians, and clinical staff is essential
