Description of WorkThis position provides daily nursing care for offenders and supports safe and effective health operations within the institution. Responsibilities include assessments, treatments, medication support, and health education to maintain a stable and healthy environment.
- Health Assessments:
Conduct physical assessments, identify concerns, and make nursing diagnoses that guide proper care. - Medication Support:
Administer medications, monitor compliance, and observe treatment effectiveness. - Treatment Delivery:
Provide ordered treatments, assist with examinations, and support daily living needs for assigned individuals. - Record Keeping:
Update electronic health records, review charts, and prepare documentation for transfers or releases. - Education and Guidance:
Teach health practices to staff and offenders and reinforce information that supports safe behavior. - Operational Compliance:
Maintain readiness for inspections and follow all required infection control and quality procedures.
- Full‑time employment, 40-hour work week.
- Three work shifts cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Work hours to be determined.
- Alternative work schedules may be available depending on operational needs.
- Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework:
This position does not allow telework. - New hires begin employment at the starting annual salary of $89,802.00 (before taxes).
- Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within one year of appointment.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived.
- Graduates within 60 days of completing an accredited nursing program may apply; must hold a valid PA temporary practice permit or PA RN license at appointment.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
