Position Guide and Job Description

The Muhlenberg School District seeks a Nurse Assistant II to assist the school nurse in the efficient operation and coverage of the school health program in the buildings.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Helping to maintain the health room under the direction of the school nurse.
• Maintaining records and performing clerical work.
• Assisting with examinations and screenings.
• Providing first aid care of students and staff.
• Monitoring the distribution of medications as directed by the school nurse.
• Keeping all matters pertaining to school health with confidentiality.
• Completing preliminary accident reports.
• Contacting parents/guardians when students are ill or injured.
• Providing coverage for the school nurse when she is absent from the building for meetings in the district.
• Assisting with kindergarten registration.
• Responding to supervisory recommendations in a prompt and positive manner.
• Performing other job-related duties or temporary assignments as designated by the principals.

Required qualifications and experience include:

• LPN or RN license required.
• Current first aid and CPR certificates.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to move from building to building providing services.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and availability of a vehicle.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Terms of employment include:

An 180-day work schedule in conjunction with the student calendar year. Hourly wage based on the nursing assistant payment schedule.
