The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing mental health treatment while collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Your responsibilities may include:
Psychiatric Care- Perform psychiatric evaluations, health histories, and mental health assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide medication management and prescribe medications within established guidelines.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications.
- Provide counseling and support when appropriate.
- Complete timely documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Maintain accurate progress notes in accordance with Medicaid, Medicare, and agency requirements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensing, and quality standards.
- Utilize appropriate coding and billing practices.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and community partners.
- Coordinate patient care across internal and external providers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Assist with prior authorizations, prescription refills, and continuity of care.

QualificationsRequired
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Nurse Practitioner certification (FNP or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner credentials as required).
- Current DEA registration.
- Current CPR certification.
- ACLS and PALS certifications.
- Minimum one year of experience in a community clinic or similar healthcare setting.
- Experience providing psychiatric care.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong psychiatric assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to manage a diverse patient population.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
