THE POSITION
Are you ready to support the well-being of residents as a Food Service Worker 1 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs? This part‑time role gives you the chance to help prepare and serve meals that support daily comfort and nutrition at the Southwestern Veterans' Center. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position focuses on preparing meals, serving residents, and keeping food service areas clean and safe. You will support daily routines that ensure proper nutrition, sanitary conditions, and dependable food delivery. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Preparation:
Prepare and assemble food items, beverages, and nourishment supplies - Meal Service:
Set up serving carts, place food items on trays, and deliver meals to residents - Diet Support:
Read and follow diet codes, menu tickets, and special meal requirements - Sanitation Tasks:
Clean dishes, equipment, tables, and food preparation areas - Safety Practices:
Follow safety rules, maintain proper protective equipment, and report hazards - Record Keeping:
Document temperatures, inventory use, meal counts, and other required information

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Part‑time employment, 20 hours per week
- Work hours are 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, alternating weekends and holidays .
- Telework: Y ou will not have the option to telework in this position.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Previous food service worker experience
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
