The primary responsibilities of the Fisheries Biologist 1 (FB1) are to assist the Union City Species Recovery Unit Leader with the implementation of recovery actions identified in PFBC Species Action Plans. This is accomplished through the propagation of state threatened, endangered, and SGCN species, and the provision of support to the PFBC Natural Diversity Section. Additionally, the FB1 supports the collection of brood stock and conducts monitoring surveys to evaluate the recovery of rare species in Pennsylvania.
The position assists with environmental reviews for rare, threatened, and endangered species, including initial assessments, recommendations, field evaluations, and habitat or presence surveys. The FB1 provides technical support to the Natural Diversity Section, including assistance with permitting programs; conducts public outreach through written and verbal communication, presentations, and similar activities; serves on ad hoc and formal committees related to nongame species propagation;
and responds to emergency alarms or calls as appropriate.
