THE POSITION
Do you want to serve in a role that helps maintain a safe and supportive environment as a Security Officer 1 for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs? This position lets you patrol grounds, assist residents and visitors, and respond to important safety needs at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. This position focuses on protecting people and property by monitoring activity, responding to concerns, and supporting daily safety operations. You will help maintain secure facilities, assist residents and visitors, and carry out clear procedures during routine and emergency situations. As a Security Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Patrol:
Make rounds of buildings and grounds to check for theft, trespass, and safety concerns - Safety Monitoring:
Observe camera systems, check door locks, and document findings in reports - Visitor Assistance:
Help residents, visitors, and staff by answering calls and providing directions and information - Emergency Response:
Respond to emergency calls, assist during drills, and follow established procedures - Incident Investigation:
Gather evidence and interview individuals involved in thefts, safety violations, or other concerns - Operational Support:
Provide help with resident transport, mail runs, inventori es, and identification bad ge processing

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 3rd shift (11:30 PM to 7:30 AM), Thursday - Monday

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Special Requirement
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination .
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
