Security Manager

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety, the Security Manager plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the contracted security staff at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Responsible for the attainment of short-and long-term financial and operational goals of the department.

• Works closely with the Legend’s Global Director of Public Safety to ensure that the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC) is secure at all times.
• Ensures the physical safety of PCC employees, contractors, vendors, exhibitors, visitors, and all others on the premises of PCC building.
• Ensures the protection of the PCC building, grounds, and property from fire, theft, illegal entry, vandalism, and all other issues that would be detrimental to the operation of the building.
• Responsibly makes sound decisions in handling all safety/security issues that arise during the course of the many diversified events encountered on a daily basis.
• Oversees the daily operation of the Command Station including the CCTV System, ISS 247 Incident Reporting System, Security and Fire Systems which includes the Reading Terminal Market Fire System. Supervisor of all Command Station Operators.
• Preserves order by circulating amongst visitors within the PCC.
• Assists with monitoring the floor during Move-In and Move-Out to ensure contracted Security and assigned parties are in place, exhibition hall is secure and safe, stairwells are free of any obstructions, fire extinguishers are placed strategically and that all attendees have exited the PCC building before Move-Out begins. • Conducts incident investigations including researching information, questioning individuals, completing necessary paperwork such as Daily Incident Report, determining severity of situation and need for further action. Takes photos if necessary and maintains/secures photos in locked file cabinet.
• Determines if Philadelphia Police are required for any building investigations.
• Monitors PCC contracted security staff for compliance with safety rules and regulations as deemed by the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority (PCCA) and Philadelphia Fire Department. Patrols and monitors exhibit halls for safety compliance and violations of same.
• Monitors evening, weekend and holiday events for PCC Security Services. Conducts inspections for security/safety violations on regular basis.
• Serves as Interim Emergency Response Leader when Assistant Director of Public Safety is not available.
• Acts as Emergency Contact for EMS personnel. Decides on level of urgency of emergency, action to take and personnel to contact.
• Trained to assist as Command Station Operator should emergency staffing be required.
• Assists in establishing rules, regulations and procedures to safely control crowd flow throughout the building at all times.
• Inspects display vehicles for compliance or violations with PCC building code while positioned on event floor
• Re-cores function rooms by programming door locks upon opening and closing of events.
• Issues employee and labor Identification Cards.
• Coordinates lost and found function ures documentation is completed in timely manner. Maintains inventoried list of lost items.
• Recommends improvements for PCC Security Services Department when necessary using professional observations, daily incident reports, and client feedback.
• Requires a very flexible work schedule, including holidays, weekends, and evenings on occasion.
• Accessible by phone or electronically 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, including holidays, in the event of an emergency situation impacting the PCC.
