Sitework Laborer (Regular Full Time)

Department: Sitework

Mericle Construction, Inc. is seeking Laborers to join our Sitework Division for year-round, local work. This role involves assisting skilled tradesmen with various ground labor tasks, operating hand and power tools, and ensuring construction sites are clean and prepared.

Mericle Construction, Inc. is the largest, full-service developer of industrial, office, flex, and medical space along Pennsylvania's I-81 Corridor. Mericle has developed more than 100 buildings in the Scranton/Pittston/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton area. The Mericle team includes licensed architects, land planners, professional engineers, surveyors, licensed electricians, plumbers, carpenters, leasing and marketing professionals, property managers, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare construction sites, including trenching and installing braces for excavations.
  • Install underground utility systems by excavating, trenching, and laying sewer, water, gas, and electrical lines using precision tools such as lasers and levels.
  • Backfill and compact trenches; grade land to ensure proper drainage and compliance with safety and code standards.
  • Operate a range of hand and power tools, including air hammers, earth tampers, and cement mixers.
  • Load, unload, and organize building materials, machinery, and tools to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Support concrete work by assisting with pouring and dismantling forms.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including greasing components and conducting fluid checks.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and handle unexpected events.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Knowledge of construction site safety practices.
