Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor - SCI Houtzdale

The Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor role with the Department of Corrections gives you the chance to teach practical electrical skills that can change lives. This position provides electrical trade instruction and oversees inmate work assignments to support operations and vocational development. As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Trade Instruction: Teach electrical systems, tools, and standard work practices and procedures.
• Work Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews, review completed tasks, and maintain order during projects.
• Material Control: Issue, track, and secure tools and supplies used during training and job assignments.
• Progress Documentation: Record attendance, skill development, and assignment details for each inmate trainee.
• Training Management: Plan lessons, assign daily schedules, and deliver structured classroom instruction.
• Operational Support: Assist with related duties that maintain smooth facility operations.

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday ‑ Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

• Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings;
  or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade;
  or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey‑level work in the electrical trade.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
