Description of WorkAs an Electrician 2, you will be supporting electrical systems across several state buildings by performing advanced installation, maintenance, and repair tasks. Your work helps ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electrical performance throughout the facilities.
In this role, you will perform the following duties:
- Journeyman Tasks:
Plan and complete electrical work involving wiring, lighting, controls, equipment, and distribution systems - Code Knowledge:
Maintain current understanding of National Electrical Code standards and apply them to assigned tasks - Problem Diagnosis:
Identify power failures, analyze issues, and correct short circuits or equipment faults - EV Planning:
Assess locations for EV charging stations, review circuitry, create drawings, and prepare project materials - Technical Tools:
Use electrical meters and instruments to measure, test, and verify equipment performance - Team Leadership:
Guide trainees and electricians, assign tasks, and support training for future licensure
Note:
This position is considered essential. You will be required to report in‑office during emergencies and office closings.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch - Telework:

- Six years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment, including two years performing skilled electrical installation and repair work in commercial, industrial, or multi‑unit residential structures; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years performing skilled electrical installation and repair work in commercial, industrial, or multi‑unit residential structures.
- This position requires possession of a valid license as a journey‑level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction (City of Harrisburg).
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Formal training in a high school or vocational program, apprenticeship, or post‑high school technical program in the electrical trade
- Possession of a Master’s Electrician License
- Electrical experience in a commercial or industrial setting
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
- Experience with 3‑phase electrical systems
- Experience working with voltages over 480 V
- Experience as a lead worker on an electrical project and/or job
- Experience in snow removal with plows, snow blowers, or other snow removal equipment
- Must be willing and able to occasionally work from ladders, scaffolding, bucket trucks, or man lifts
