Responsibilities- Perform repairs and overhauls on vehicles, construction machinery, and related components.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and adjustments to keep equipment operating safely.
- Conduct official safety and emissions inspections and complete all required documentation.
- Use diagnostic tools to find equipment issues and determine proper repair methods.
- Maintain a clean work area and follow procedures that reduce hazards and prevent injuries.
- Make minor adjustments and demonstrate repair techniques to assist other staff members.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Hours may change based on seasonal requirements.
- Telework not available.
- Starting annual salary of $55,492 (before taxes) for new Commonwealth employees.
- Successful completion of the Commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program; or
- Two years of journey‑level mechanic experience in diagnosing and repairing automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, including one year involving diesel vehicles; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Active Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake and Manual Transmission restrictions removed, or equivalent.
- Active Medical Examiner’s Certificate as per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment.
- Pass the Department of Transportation’s New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.
- Active Pennsylvania Class 1, Class 4, or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during probation.
- Active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) on the first day of employment.
- Employees may need to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications for specific equipment.
- Subject to Drug and Alcohol testing under Federal Regulations.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
