4 days ago Requisition

Salary Range: $22.00 To $28.00 Hourly

The Flowback Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of well testing and flowback equipment during the completion and initial production phases of oil and gas wells. This position splits time between the shop, where equipment is maintained, tested, and prepared for deployment, and the field, where the technician rigs up, monitors, and rigs down flowback equipment on active well sites.

The role requires a strong safety mindset, mechanical aptitude, and flexibility to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations in remote field locations.

Key Responsibilities
- Field
  • Rig up and rig down flowback iron, chokes, separators, sand traps, tanks, and related surface equipment at well locations.
  • Monitor and control well flowback operations, adjusting choke settings to manage pressure, rates, and sand/solids production.
  • Perform continuous well site monitoring, including pressure readings, temperature checks, and visual inspection of equipment for leaks or malfunctions.
  • Coordinate with company representatives, wireline, and other service crews on location to sequence operations safely.
  • Respond to changing well conditions and elevate issues (pressure spikes, equipment failure, H2S readings) per company protocol.
  • Maintain accurate field logs, run tickets, and reports of flow rates, pressures, and equipment used.
  • Participate in job safety analyses (JSAs), pre-job safety meetings, and site-specific safety orientations.
  • Operate light trucks and equipment trailers to transport gear to and from location.
Key Responsibilities
- Shop
  • Inspect, pressure test, clean, and repair flowback iron, chokes, valves, and related equipment between jobs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, pumps, and support equipment.
  • Load and stage equipment for upcoming jobs; verify inventory and report shortages or damaged gear.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard, including proper storage of iron, tools, and chemicals.
  • Assist with equipment fabrication, welding touch-ups, and minor mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Complete maintenance logs and communicate equipment status to the shop and operations supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3+ years of oilfield experience preferred; flowback, well testing, or completions experience strongly preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic hand and power tool proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; CDL a plus.
  • Current or ability to obtain: H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, and other safety certifications as required by clients.
  • Ability to read pressure gauges, charts, and basic well site documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a crew.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods in outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to work extended shifts (12+ hours), nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
  • Ability to travel to remote well locations, sometimes with overnight stays.
  • Split schedule between shop facility and active well sites.
  • Exposure to moving equipment, high-pressure systems, chemicals, and produced fluids.
  • Field locations may lack standard amenities; PPE is required at all times on location.
  • Competitive pay based on experience, plus field/per diem pay where applicable.
