Reports to: Josh Parsons
Piercetek is a growing industrial automation integrator based in Vineland, NJ. We design, build, install, and commission conveyor systems, packaging equipment, control panels, and robotic solutions for manufacturers, food processors, distribution centers, and packaging facilities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Our team runs lean — every person on the floor is technical, accountable, and trusted to represent Piercetek at the highest level.
POSITIONOVERVIEW
We are hiring a seasoned Senior Field Service Technician with deep mechanical aptitude and strong hands‑on experience in conveyor systems and packaging equipment. This role is the backbone of Piercetek's field operations — you will be on‑site installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems at customer facilities. You must be a true problem‑solver: someone who can read a machine, diagnose a fault, and get a line running again under production pressure.
Controls and electrical knowledge support your work, but your mechanical skill is what sets you apart.
- Install, align, and commission conveyor systems — slider bed, lineshaft, zero‑pressure accumulation, chain, and belt
- Install and commission packaging equipment — case packers, palletizers, stretch wrappers, fillers, sealers, and related machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults: misalignment, belt tracking, drive chain issues, gear reducers, bearings, couplings, and structural problems
- Troubleshoot electro‑mechanical systems: motor starters, VFDs, proximity sensors, photo eyes, limit switches, and basic PLC I/O
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, electrical schematics, and OEM manuals
- Perform preventive maintenance on conveyor and packaging systems and complete thorough service documentation
- Diagnose pneumatic system issues — cylinders, solenoid valves, regulators, and air prep components
- Coordinate with plant maintenance and engineering contacts on‑site — communicate findings clearly and professionally
- Complete service reports, parts requests, and job sign‑offs accurately and on time
- Support control panel field wiring and integration from Piercetek‑built panels
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle in field‑ready condition at all times
- Represent Piercetek professionally — appearance, communication, and attitude matter on every job
- 7+ years of hands‑on field service in conveyor systems, packaging equipment, or industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical background: precision alignment, bearings, gearboxes, chain/belt drives, pneumatics
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting packaging equipment from multiple OEMs (Combi, Lantech, Hytrol, Intelligrated, or similar)
- Able to read and work from mechanical drawings, assembly prints, and electrical schematics
- Working knowledge of VFDs, motor starters, and basic control wiring — enough to trace a fault
- Proficient with precision hand tools and measuring instruments — calipers, levels, laser alignment, etc.
- NFPA 70E / arc flash awareness and safe lockout/tagout practices
- Self‑directed field worker — can manage a job site, communicate with customers, and solve problems without constant oversight
- Vineland, NJ area preferred; regional NJ/PA/MD/DE corridor candidates considered — reliable transportation required
- Physically capable: lift 75 lbs, work on ladders and elevated platforms, work in industrial environments
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs — RSLogix/Studio 5000 online monitoring for fault tracing
- Fanuc or other industrial robot exposure — teach pendant operation and alarm recovery (nice to have, not required)
- Welding or light fabrication capability — MIG or stick for field modifications
- Experience in food & beverage or pharma manufacturing environments (GMP, sanitary standards)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- OEM factory training on any major packaging or conveyor brand
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Per diem and full travel reimbursement for all field assignments
- Company vehicle or mileage compensation (TBD based on candidate)
- Performance bonuses tied to project delivery and customer satisfaction
- Opportunity to grow with Piercetek — more work, more responsibility, more earning potential as we expand
