Descriptionof Work
This position focuses on providing supportive and protective services to children and families throughout Allegheny County. You will assist families as they work toward safety and stability. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Family Support:
Provide guidance to children and families during times of need - Case Management:
Monitor family progress from the initial referral through case closure - Crisis Response:
Respond to urgent concerns to ensure the safety of children - Court Participation:
Present case information and testimony during Children Court proceedings - Collaborative Planning:
Work with families and teams to develop goals for self sufficiency
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Schedules vary and travel is required.
- Various CYF Locations within Allegheny County
- Telework:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelors degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
