Wayne County Children and Youth Services seeks qualified and motivated individuals to support children and families within the community. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Responsibilities- Conduct interviews with clients and families to identify challenges that affect the well‑being of children.
- Assist families in developing plans that improve safety and stability.
- Keep records organized and balance multiple responsibilities as part of a county caseload.
- Arrange referrals and help families access needed programs.
- Prepare documentation such as reports, case histories, and other required materials.
- Attend court hearings and present case progress information when required.
- Perform physical movements such as standing, climbing stairs, and walking distances necessary for client visits.
- Full‑time employment: 37.5 hours per week.
- Regular hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch break.
- On‑call 24/7 on a rotating basis, including evenings and weekends.
- Telework is not available for this position.
- Six months experience as a County Caseworker 1; or Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or A bachelor's degree supplemented by 12 college credits in a social science and one year of professional social casework experience; or Any equivalent combination of education and experience meeting the above criteria.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Conditional offer requires a drug screening.
- Position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, including required criminal history reports, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- Veteran preference is provided under Pennsylvania law.
