Join the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services as a Social Worker 2 and help young people build stronger futures. This role gives you the chance to guide youth through important transitions and support their success after leaving the facility. You will be part of a team dedicated to positive change and long‑term stability for every resident, helping youth reconnect with their communities.

This position focuses on leading transitional services that help youth successfully return to their communities. The role involves planning, coordination, and guidance that support safety, growth, and long‑term stability.

• Transitional Planning:
  Develop plans that support youth as they prepare to return to their communities.
• Safety Oversight:
  Maintain a secure environment through supervision and preventive action.
• Case Coordination:
  Work with families, probation officers, and facility staff to support aftercare goals.
• Resource Networking:
  Build connections with community programs that help youth access important services.
• Documentation Duties:
  Record assessments, updates, and reports that outline resident progress.
• Counseling Support:
  Provide individual and group guidance to help residents build positive habits.

• Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours:
  
  8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break (subject to operational needs). Overtime and travel may be required.
• Telework:
  Not available for this position.
• Salary:
  New employees begin with an annual salary of $60,538.00 (before taxes).
• Free parking is provided.

• Two (2) years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) with continuous commonwealth employment as of September 8 , 2008, or
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 with a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare, or
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services with a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare, or
  • A master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within three (3) months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• Must be willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and commute to Danville, PA.
• Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, including required criminal history clearances (PA State Police, PA Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprint).
