Driver License Examiner w/ CDL

We are excited to welcome an enthusiastic and collaborative Driver License Examiner w/ CDL to join our team at the Reading licensing center. This role administers examinations to assess the overall skill and competency of commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver license applicants.
Responsibilities- Conduct standardized examinations to evaluate the skill and competence of CDL and non-CDL applicants.
- Process test results, applications, and issue driver license and identification card products to eligible applicants.
- Examine paperwork and documentation to combat identity theft and fraud.
- Determine physical and driving qualifications of applicants and mechanical condition of vehicles for conformance to safety standards.
- Administer vision tests, including telebinocular, color perception, and other tests of vision.
- Administer non-CDL and CDL examinations to ensure examinees have knowledge of the Vehicle Code and traffic signs.
- Provide efficient and courteous customer service, responding to public inquiries and assisting customers at the Driver License Center by processing applications and paperwork.
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours:
8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday–Saturday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. - Overtime and travel to other driver license centers may be required as necessary.
- No telework option.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration), or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent; must be 21 years of age at the time of application.
- No suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment.
- Employees hired after February 28, 2022 must obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- Active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License or equivalent with endorsements P and N; the CDL cannot have restrictions E, L, N, O, or Z.
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
- Selected candidate must undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
