This role supports highway safety by conducting driver tests and reviewing identity documents to prevent fraud. It also helps customers with licensing needs at driver license centers.
Responsibilities- Conduct Tests: Administer knowledge, skills, and road tests for commercial and non-commercial applicants
- Review Documents: Check identification and legal documents to verify authenticity and prevent fraud
- Inspect Vehicles: Examine vehicles for proper mechanical safety features before conducting tests
- Assist Customers: Help applicants with licensing processes, renewals, transfers, and credential requirements
- Use Databases: Access systems to confirm identity, update records, and complete transactions
- Maintain Safety: Follow safety procedures and keep a clean, organized work area
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel required as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
- This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The commercial driver license cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.

- This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
